2022.01.26 21:18 DibbyDonuts Serious lapse in judgment!
At the start of SGA season 4 episode 11, another team is working on evacuating a planet during an enemy attack. The SG team member that is on the comm saying his team is trapped and when they lose connection, Sheppard orders Atlantis to "Dial back!"
Had the other gate not been destroyed, this would ultimately cut off the other team's escape by preventing them from re-dialing out quickly.
Bad call Shep.

2022.01.26 21:18 lavasharkandboygirl Mason Plumler reverse dunks.
Alright so I been watching a lot of hornets basketball lately, and it’s ridiculous how often Mason Plumlee will reverse dunk it in situations where most people would just dunk or lay it normally. I’m wondering if there’s some sort of advantage he’s figured out, like you can’t be stripped going up cause your back’s to the defender?? Wondering if anyone as any insights. Or if it’s just a random tendency he’s picked up.

Hi folks, I had to create a survey for a business I am creating for my business class and it is related to car ownership and would be very grateful if you could fill it out. It is very short and would take less than 5 mins.

2022.01.26 21:18 NCKC177 Entertaining a new job offer after already accepting another?
I accepted a job offer (company A) and was supposed to start this week, but it was pushed back to next Monday. Coincidentally, I heard back from another job I had applied for (company B) and was able to schedule an interview since I now had free time this week.
Job B has a starting salary thats $12k higher and offers a fully remote schedule, so if I was offered the job I think it’d be smart to take it, but I’m nervous at the idea of burning a bridge with job A and then getting burned myself by job B.
Job B is located out of state and would require travel to their main office for a week of training in February (company pays for flight and accommodations). I’ve read reviews for this office and while most of them are positive, the negative ones warn that people are sometimes let go after training and their offers are rescinded.
If I reject job A and then get screwed by job B and am left having to restart my entire job search at the end of Feb I would be devastated. And although job A pays less, it’s still adequate and the benefits are good and the coworkers all seem extremely nice. Also, it’s hybrid but would require an hour commute each way 3x a week.
tldr; Is it stupid to risk a sure thing with one employer for the potential for something better with another?

2022.01.26 21:18 noexqses My family's negativity is draining me.
My (20F) mother (50f) and sister (27f) have this weird tendency to make sabotage-y statements? Sorry for reposting everywhere, but it keeps getting removed.
This is such a weird dynamic that I can't describe it well. I have also been in therapy for 8+ years so have talked to my therapist about this and she kind of just... doesn't understand I think due to a cultural gap? I love my family to death. We've been through shit including a narcissist stepfather for over a decade. I've fully come to terms with the fact that I will probably be in therapy for the rest of my life due to intense anxiety and depression.
One of the big things I've been working on is positive thinking and not spiraling into negative thought patterns. However, my family makes this so difficult that sometimes I have to go days or weeks without engaging in real conversations with them because I don't feel like dealing with their negativity. We all have anxiety I believe but theirs just goes unchecked and they have to drop off little morsels of misery in nearly every conversation. I live about two hours away and am currently in my senior year of college, so I've been working hard on boundaries and my self peace. I think they're having a hard time adjusting to the fact that I'm not the little girl who's subservient and absorbs the punches anymore.
For example, today I was just shooting the shit on the phone with my mom and I mentioned that my dog's shedding is annoying (I'm allergic but I love her). Just casually mentioned it. I said my next dog would be a mini poodle because they're small and shed less, and my Mom immediately goes, "No, you're gonna get a border collie that sheds a lot." Why? I told her to stop and that it was annoying how she was just being a contrarian to everything I was saying. Of course, she replies, "Okay, sorry for telling a joke." After that, I was just irritated and didn't want to talk anymore because she couldn't just admit she was being a dick and drop it. And yeah, that may seem a bit harsh but we've had a conversation about this before. And the fact she couldn't just own up to it and I am literally 30 years younger than her and know how to apologize is just annoying.
Same with my sister, but I kind of let it slide more with her because she's pregnant and generally unhappy with her life as well. I recently went through a breakup and have been in a new relationship for 2 months. We've been using the L word for about a month now. And yes, that's moving a bit fast and we're young but what's the harm? I truly care about him but I feel like my sister has the false notion that he's a rebound and he's not. I can't casually bring up anything with her because she's so quick to shoot it down or point out potential concerns. When I told her we were using the L word, she was quick to criticize me for it under the guise of "sisterly care". Same with where I'm going or how I spend my money. When I tell her to relax and mind her own business, she's quick to escalate and it turns into a fight and it just makes me dread talking to her and my mother.
I've tried telling them to chill but it just turns into a fucking fight every time. Have any of you experienced this?

2022.01.26 21:18 2nd_Fermenter COVID tests being billed as office visits (in Chicago)
We've noticed that a few (but only a few) of our COVID tests that we've gotten through the RI portal have billed to a plastic surgeon in Chicago. Maybe that's not a big issue since Blue Cross seems to pay the diagnostic fees anyway, but it is odd. However, they also come with copays for office visits, and I'm not excited about having to pay a copay out of pocket for an office visit to a plastic surgeon in Chicago over a COVID test I had done in RI.
Anyone else have this issue? And/or, have thoughts on recourse?

2022.01.26 21:18 Reasonable_Phys Why do people place large emphasis on height if in the same weight class?
Particularly with guys like Adesanya, Mcgregor etc. People say they have huge advantages fighting shorter people but surely if they're the same weight, the shorter guy has more muscle and power and is better on the ground?
Obviously this isn't for heavyweight as 5 foot 9 cormier couldn't reach 265lbs unlike taller guys without losing speed. But comparing mcgregor and a guy a few inches shorter at 145 it doesn't seem like a big advantage when you're so starved and normal strong guys that height weigh much more.
